Thriftology is a creative reuse center where art, community, and opportunity come together. As a program of Young Philosophers Society, Thriftology collects donated art supplies, books, craft materials, office supplies, and other creative resources and gives them a second life through affordable resale, creative programming, community projects, and vocational training.

But Thriftology is more than a store. It is a real-world learning environment where students with learning differences can develop practical workplace skills through meaningful, hands-on experiences. Students may participate in sorting donations, organizing inventory, creating displays, assisting customers, preparing materials, supporting classes and events, and learning the everyday responsibilities of a workplace.​ The program uses the work itself as the curriculum. Students learn communication, organization, problem-solving, teamwork, time management, customer service, responsibility, and independence while contributing to an active community business.

Thriftology also provides opportunities for creative expression and community connection through classes, workshops, collaborative projects, and partnerships with local artists, schools, nonprofits, and businesses.

Our goal is to create a place where donated materials become more than products—they become tools for learning, creativity, vocational development, and community participation.
